Dayoung Jeong — Associate Professor of Law, Chungnam National University

I am an Associate Professor of Law at Chungnam National University Law School in South Korea. My research focuses on civil law—including contracts, torts, property, and family law—and uses comparative approaches to place Korean doctrine in dialogue with the civil-law traditions of continental Europe and the common-law tradition of the United States. Much of my recent work examines how private law should respond to emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, digital platforms, and crypto-assets, as well as to developments in consumer protection and health law.

I have held visiting appointments at UC Berkeley School of Law in the United States, where I remain affiliated with the Korea Law Center and was a 2026 Robbins Research Fellow. Berkeley Law profiled this work in a Robbins Fellow Spotlight. I have also held a visiting appointment at Université Paris-Panthéon-Assas in France. Before entering academia, I served as a deputy director in the Korean government and practiced law as an attorney in the private sector. This experience keeps my scholarship closely connected to the practical problems faced by courts and legislators. I also serve on several government advisory committees in Korea.
